The U.S. Bishops in their 2005 document, Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, recommend the development of a comprehensive personnel system that: “...provides a formal opportunity for every individual minister to reflect on his or her own performance and get feedback from a supervisor and that may include the views of colleagues and those served… Documentation of honest and constructive feedback...is important, as is both formal and informal recognition of generous, Christ- centered, and effective service.”

This performance development system for lay leaders is designed around proven best practices for leadership development, performance improvement and interpersonal communication. It draws upon the National Certification Standards for Lay Ecclesial Ministers and other resources for the ongoing formation of lay leaders.

This version of the 360-degree assessment tool is designed for use by parish life coordinators, lay pastoral associates, parish business managers, directors of parish ministries, pastoral or finance council leaders, and diocesan lay leaders and can also be used by deacons or religious filling any of these roles.
