Bishop Dale Melczek speaks about the use of Standards for Excellence in the Diocese of Gary, IN.

The first program of its kind in the United States, the Leadership Roundtable's Standards for Excellence program is a national initiative to promote the highest standards of ethics and accountability in Catholic Church management and operations. What makes the Standards for Excellence program unique is that it provides Catholic diocese, parishes and nonprofits with a common sense approach to achieve the highest standards in governance and management, while staying focused on the pastoral mission, the people, and communities served.

The Standards for Excellence respond to the call for good stewardship and accountability by the U.S. Bishops in their pastoral letter, Stewardship: A Disciple's Response, by describing how well managed dioceses, parishes and Catholic nonprofits operate, serving as a model for implementation. The Standards are also in full compliance with canon law. More >
