Measuring the Quality of Parish Ministry

Despite conventional wisdom parish ministry evaluation CAN be done and it is very different from performance evaluation for employees. Best practice and standards for excellence in parish ministry can be identified and measured.A definition, framework, and tools for evaluating the quality of parish ministry will be presented. Participants will learn to develop and implement a ministry improvement plan based on the results of a parish ministry evaluation. Techniques to identify a ministry’s strengths, best ministry practices, and how to introduce best practice standards into current ministries will be discussed.
Audience: Pastors, parish pastoral staff, parish council members, parish finance council members, parish lay volunteer leadership, diocesan pastoral staff and cabinet members.

Learn practical techniques and receive tools that will lead staff and volunteers in their efforts as they serve the mission and vision of the Church. Avoid ambiguity in roles and responsibilities for both supervisors and staff. Learn techniques for providing feedback and having difficult conversations. Receive sample personnel and volunteer policies, review and evaluation forms.
Audience: All parish, diocesan, and nonprofit staff and lay volunteer leadership responsible for managing other people.
